The large white butterfly ( " Pieris brassicae " ) is prevalent in eastern European countries.
The Madeiran Large White ( " Pieris brassicae wollastoni " ), a subspecies of the Large White from Madeira, is possible extinct.
They are greyish-greenish, with black dots and broad yellow stripes, quite similar to the larva of the cabbage butterfly ( " Pieris brassicae " ).
The nature of the glue has been little researched but in the case of " Pieris brassicae ", it begins as a pale yellow granular secretion containing acidophilic proteins.
Larvae are often found on the same individual host plant as caterpillars of " Euchloe ", " Pieris rapae " and " Pieris brassicae ".
